MARCH 2020 COVID 19
I HOPE ALL PUPILS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE STAYING WELL DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. OXFORD VIOLIN SCHOOL LESSONS ARE BEING CONTINUED ONLINE WITH EXTRA TUTORIAL VIDEOS AND VIRTUAL CONCERTS TO KEEP YOU MOTIVATED.
Oxford Violin School (OVS) was set up by professional violinist and teacher Jacqui Miles in North Oxford to offer violin lessons to both children and adults, from beginners to advanced. If you are looking for a dynamic and motivating teacher for yourself or your child, please browse this site to learn more of Jacqui’s background and teaching methods.
Does your child want to learn to play violin? Is it something you always wanted to do and never had the opportunity as a child? Did you learn but always wished you’d carried on or were confident enough to join a local orchestra or ensemble? Do you have more leisure time and are looking for a stimulating and enjoyable project to keep you mentally active?
As a member of English National Opera Orchestra and previously of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and a freelancer with many of London’s top orchestras combined with her teaching expertise and experience, Jacqui welcomes advanced students and players wishing to develop aspects of technique or repertoire. International students and mature players confined by long working hours are also welcome through the use of online tools for remote teaching and study. There is no better time than the present to improve your playing!
There are many advantages to learning a musical instrument, not only for pure enjoyment but research shows that motor skills and brain development can be enhanced. Many schools look for ability specifically in this area and regardless of major fields of study, universities favour students with several “strings to their bow”. Private tuition allows parents to monitor their child’s lessons and progress and be active in encouraging practice sessions at home. Maintaining close communication with the teacher is key to your child’s success.
Adults too can benefit from all the advantages of instrumental tuition and additionally in maintaining flexibility in the hands and fingers and keeping an active brain!
